Looking at this Qual atop a saloon birdhouse, reminded me of a dance hall girl with her feather headdress

This bird must have felt like King Kong on top of the Empire State building as he keeps a wary eye on the bees that were buzzing around the top of the tree in circles.

This mother Quail watches over her youngsters as they travel through the desert brush.

A Sparrow leaps across a roadway with wings folded looking like a dart. It’s shadow casting a sleek shape.

These two ducks do everything together, including taking flight at the same time.

Calm waters cast a good reflection of this duck and the surrounding scenery as he paddles along the topside.

Taking a break from the hot days of summer, this owl sought the shade of an elm tree.

Taking a break from the hot days of summer, this owl sought the shade of an elm tree. He looks a bit annoyed by the attention.

A red winged black bird sits on a post. The red feathers form what appears to be a heart on the birds wing.

As these young ducklings swim with their mother, the setting sun reflects off the pond giving the water a golden glow.

A Magpie calls out to its mate. I liked the way the black and white of the bird went with the other colors in the photo.

Star Trek fans will be pleased to know that even owls know how to give the hand gesture for “Live Long And Prosper”. Perhaps this owl is part Vulcan.

A horned owl stares straight at the photographer and does not remove its gaze (I Lost).

A horned owl gives a look that we have all gotten from our parents. The look of disapproval.

Western King birds are quick moving flyers. I managed to catch this one just as it flew between me and the sun. The effect lit up the birds wings and made for a cool shot I thought.

I spotted this black bird hanging out in the water. The look he was giving me let me know that he was making sure I did not get too close. I liked the look of the photo and tweaked it a bit to get this look.

A rain soaked hawk lands on a powerline pole. Its feathers sticking together due to the recent downpour.

Two Canadian Geese fight winds and foul weather as they attempt to fly out of Washoe valley, Nevada.

The snow was coming down heavy and these birds took refuge in a grove of trees. Robins and Bluebirds mixed with others to wait out the storm.

The original photo was very dark (will also be uploaded), so I manipulated it a bit and this appeared which I thought was pretty cool. The Hawk was flying in front of the rising sun hence, the coloring when I worked on the processing.

An American Bald Eagle screeches from a tree along the bank of the Salmon River in Idaho.

A large group of birds rest on power lines. Reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, I decided to use some filters to change the look of the photo entirely with this print being the final outcome.

A heron searches for a meal in the shallows of Cave Lake located near Ely Nevada. The small lake is a favorite with locals and travelers alike featuring a small campground, boat launch and fishing. The lake falls under the Nevada State Parks Division.

Nothing worse than having a buzzard stare you down. This one did just that while sitting on a barbed wire fence.

If a buzzard can give a whimsical look, this one seems to be humming a tune while looking back at me. Perhaps the song is an old one like “I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright”! (Westside Story)

This buzzard gives a proud profile pose for the camera while sitting on a barbed wire fence.

A stork flies off in search off food on a sunny day at Rye Patch Reservoir near Lovelock, Nevada.

I managed to get close enough to this American Bald Eagle sitting in a tree near Minden, Nevada. Eagles are somewhat common in this area but, are really seen a lot during the birth of calves on the local ranches.

On Mount Rose located in Northern Nevada, it is not uncommon for the Mountain Chickadee to land on an outstretched hand as many individuals will feed them bread and seeds during the winter while hiking on the mountain.
I took this photo when one landed on this child’s hand. The image gave me a sense of balance in the world between humankind and the animal kingdom.

The Mountain Chickadee is very common in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range around Lake Tahoe. They are not shy and will even land on you, especially if you happen to have bread or seed available. When hiking in the area, often times they will follow you as you walk. This one was just hanging out and checking to see if I had anything to offer in winter feed.

The Swallows in Wallace, Idaho are everywhere. Here I captured one resting in a hedge. The feather colors are beautiful. I like the way the leaves surround the swallow as if cradling it.

A quail stands guard on a boulder. I liked the color combination or the rock, quail and background. These birds are very common in Nevada and are always a joy to see.

An owl rests on a wooden beam on top of an abandoned business in Gardnerville, Nevada. The look upon his face gave the appearance of wisdom and perhaps contemplation of the world as he knows it.

This magpie appears to be balancing on a beam as it lands with a mouthful of twigs for its nest.

A magpie is perched on a weathered branch with its tail feathers prominently displayed. The bird’s black and white plumage contrasts with the greenery in the background.

A Canadian goose hides its head in a bowl left on a beach during high winds which throws sand at the goose. A fish jumps out of the water in the backgrounds.

Birds gather around a wooden feeder on a snowy day, while one bird flutters in mid-air above the box. The background is blurred, emphasizing the gentle fall of snowflakes.
