Feeling Like King Kong

This bird must have felt like King Kong on top of the Empire State building as he keeps a wary eye on the bees that were buzzing around the top of the tree in circles.

Bees work very hard pollinating the plants in the desert.

A Monarch butterfly feeds on a dandelion in the high desert. I liked how the background came out in this shot.

Sometimes I like to play with images, as with this shot of a butterfly in a field. I like the way the colors came out together as well as the bird bite that the butterfly survived on it’s right wing.

A bee goes about collecting nectar on a bright sunny day.

A wasp takes an early morning stroll. I really liked the colors and the little ball of light that looks a bit like the moon as the wasp passes over it.

Even in the most remote parts of central Nevada you will find butterflies. I spotted these while hiking along trails near Eureka, Nevada. I felt that the colors of the flowers and butterflies against the desert rock was beautiful.

A dragonfly clings to a branch in the brush of Northern Nevada.

A black widow hangs in it’s web in Virginia City, Nevada. I like the orange background against the black coloring of the widow. If you look closely, you can see my reflection taking the photo in the light on the spiders backside.

A Black Stink Bug helps pollinate desert sage.

Two Dragonflies are reflected in the water as they fly above during courtship.

A Dragonfly spreads it’s red wings while resting on a branch. I really liked the colors in this photo.

This dragonfly’s wings shine brightly in the morning sun.

Two dragonflies attached during courtship, leave a ripple effect upon the water as they lay eggs. Hard to get a good shot as they dart around the reservoir at Rye Patch in Nevada.
